Noble, Captain consistent ?
I have never been a big Noble fan and thought the 5 year contract crazy I even wanted him sold when he was given it, but who else could be Captain with the same love and conviction as him in the current squad, the truth is that there is no one.
He is not the kind of player who in my personal opinion will change a game positively if the team is not playing well, well not that often anyway, but when the team is playing well Noble nearly always seems to shine.
So I give Credit to Mark Noble who is obviously working hard, he might be Inconsistent but somehow manages to come to the fore and when everything is going well he is integral, please God he keeps up his recent form West ham too. The Canning Town Kid is back.

he's just fit again, that's all.

we definitely play better with him in the team

Re: Noble, Captain consistent ?
He doesn't hide when we are playing badly, but that's when his lack of pace is exposed, as he rushes around trying to compensate for our lack of organisation, and sometimes the deficiencies of his team-mates.

When we're playing well, he can show that he's a pretty good footballer.

Obviously, we just need to play well, and he'll be well worth that contract...

Written off by many of the experts on here a few months ago.

Now he is fit again we are seeing what a key player he is for us.

Moyes and his team deserve the credit for the improved fitness of not just Nobel, but for the entire squad.

Re: Noble, Captain consistent ?
He has been like his old self again the past couple of months. It's great to see.

Perhaps it was all down to fitness but, in all fairness, he's made poor starts to the season for some time now.

Even in 2015/16 when I thought that he was absolutely superb in the second-half of the season; he made a slow and error-prone start to the campaign.

Maybe it's down to bad luck with little niggles and strains at the start of seasons that hampers his performances for ages afterwards or maybe it just takes him a long time to get going, I don't know.

Re: Noble, Captain consistent ?
I think gph has it right. He is still one trying (sometimes too hard) when things are going badly and therefore he draws attention. And so he gets a lot of the general frustration dumped on him.

When things are going well he is a cog in the machine player for the most part (except when he adds a rare goal like yesterday) and blends in behind the more skilled players.

Not amazing ever at this point but great for keeping good play ticking over and always trying to make the bad not so much so (though I will admit he fails there sometimes.)

Will add one thing after just watching the highlights this morning.

On the third goal, Lanzini celebrates with some people, while Arnautovic is celebrating with another group. Mark Noble goes to Lanzini and leads his group to Arnautovic. A very little thing but hopefully bringing the team together.

We’re a far better team with Noble in it, regardless of calls that his legs are going or not, it’s as simple as that.

Re: Noble, Captain consistent ?
Don't know the exact figures but points per game this season with Noble must be far better than the games without Noble.

Also, he can actually score a penalty (which no other member of the squad seems capable of doing).

When fully fit and the schedule is not crazy, he should always start.

Noble for me is a vital cog for west ham.

Re: Noble, Captain consistent ?
I've spent two years saying his legs have gone but yesterday he ran that midfield.

He hasn't found any speed but seems to have greater confidence in slowing the game down in the middle of the park to suit him.

The Moyes effect? Dunno but the lad has come on since having the courage of his convictions to play to his strengths and not worry about his weaknesses

I think it shows how fucking shit kouyate and obiang have been that noble walks back in the team and looks like pirlo in comparison.

Fair play he's been pretty decent. Not sure what the fuck he was doing for their goal yesterday tho.

you should be thinking what the hell was cresswell/masuaku doing for their goal.

I'm thinking about it.......................

Re: Noble, Captain consistent ?
He dashed back to cover for Cresswell, who wasn't tight enough on Lolley. As Noble was going full out, it was easy for Lolley to turn back on himself and get past him.

Meanwhile, instead of backing up Noble, Cresswell was retreating towards the penalty spot, presumably expecting Lolley to try and go outside Noble and cross, but opening up a space for Lolley to shoot.

Poor decision-making by Cresswell, a failed attempt by Noble to make up for it.

And Noble gets the blame

Re: Noble, Captain consistent ?
Always been a player that shines when he has a quality player to play with as he’s a clever player. If you look at the periods he’s played his best football always when we’ve had a top player alongside him Tevez Bellamy Payet and now Arnautovic has suddenly turned into a world beater and Lanzini is getting his form back the Skipper is starting to show his qualities
